A memorable event took place in Ntaba Maria Convent, the Motherhouse of the Congregation of our Lady Mother of Divine Love. It was on the 7th February 2015, where people from far and near came to honour this occasion.
Five of our sisters were celebrating their commitment. Three of them, Srs Bonaventura, Theresa and Tharcisius were celebrating their 50 years of commitment and two of them, Srs Michaelina and Lucia were making their final commitment. The Church was full to capacity with people from the parishes in the diocese. There was a good turn up of priests and religious, some from the neighbouring dioceses. Parents and friends of the sisters had come, it was a colourful celebration indeed.
It started with the celebration of the Eucharist whose main celebrant was the bishop of Queenstown, the Rt Rev Bishop Dabula Mpako. The Bishop from Mthatha, Rt Rev Bishop Sithembele Sipuka, and the Bishop from Kokstad, Rt Rev Bishop Zolile Mpambani, concelebrated in the Eucharist. In his homily Bishop Dabula congratulated the two young sisters for giving themselves to Consecrated Life at the time when this life does not seem attractive to young people of today. To the jubilarians the Bishop expressed a word of gratitude for the years they spent in the service of God and the Church, especially in the Diocese of Queenstown. He also pointed out that this celebration is fitting well to this Year of Consecrated Life as declared by the Holy Father, Pope Francis.
Lunch was served to everyone present and afterwards there was singing and presentation to the five sisters in the tent prepared for that. The people went home happy. Thanks to the Bishop who gave us nourishment for our souls and to all who made the celebration such a success by their prayers, presence and contribution in one way or another.
